the last few weeks

I cannot believe that the year has flown and it's almost my birthday already....
However, I think I will postpone any parties until June because there are so many birthdays in May :) Maybe I will not even have a party - isn't it a day like any other?

A short update on the "life of Irene".... At work we have finally managed to submit our things to the Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education on the 30th of April. This was quite a haul, but the waiting began. The CHE will only meet in June so we should know by the end of the year.

Somewhere in between i had to sew five dresses instead of one, since the dressmaker turned out to not do what I asked her to do.

Also, I manged to write one assignment for my studies...

Did I sleep? no, not much :) The two long weekends in a row last week did help though and the public holiday for voting was a great day to relax as well. I think I have caught up on sleep, but I will need a holiday soon.

To all who supported me in planning Raoul's and Hannah's wedding a BIG thank you. I couldn't have done it without you guys. To be honest, I brought it on myself, when I asked all of you to pitch in, but I did not anticipate all the extra sewing way back in April. Also, come to think of it, I now know where to hire table cloths for much less than the usual price, where to have flowers done (thank you Lehane and mom), what the buttonhole pins cost (to pin the flowers to lapels) and that simple is often more effective than a big hoohaa. Thanks also to all the Wartons who wave pitched in with cleaning up without asking or having to be asked. You guys are the best! Oh, yes, the correct boning arrived two weeks after the last post, and I could use it in Hannah's dress after all. I don't know how much she could breathe, but she survived the day and now can relax on her honeymoon - breathe in all the air she can. She looked absolutely gorgeous - thanks to Enno and her magic

Finally :)

A good few years ago, my friend H went to visit her family in the states and her mom was generous enough to part with some of her stash. I blogged about the start of the quilt a while back (In february last year - go figure) and then the top wound up in the cupboard, since I was so busy sewing for other people Well, this year marked a new season, and I finally have finished it :) Doing the happy dance right now Thank you H and M.
