The year so far....

The year started off with a bang of busyness. At work I had to go back almost a year to a submission for a new programme we developed, losing three weeks of preparation. During that time I also got a job to make and grade a matric jacket. (the photos below are poor quality because they are not taken by me :) )
Also, the sewing wasn't doen by me either, so some quality issues in my mind....

I then proceded to sew a wardrobe for my friend TJ who is heading onto the mission field. Int eh process I could test my new machine (well, "new" because I have not really used it since I bought it in April last year)
So, here is what I did:



And I experimented with dying.
Yes, these things all went in at the same time into the same die lot and this is what I got (the second shirt from the right was light blue and the dress on the far left was white). This jsut goes to show that there are no guarantees when the shop tells you "It's 100% cotton" hahahaha

And in other news: I fell down some stairs

and just a side note for those of you who thing that my cupboard is empty - think again! there are 100000000000 projects waiting - well, more like 100, but at the moment I'm not getting to many of them. So, watch this space.....

To all who supported me in planning Raoul's and Hannah's wedding a BIG thank you. I couldn't have done it without you guys. To be honest, I brought it on myself, when I asked all of you to pitch in, but I did not anticipate all the extra sewing way back in April. Also, come to think of it, I now know where to hire table cloths for much less than the usual price, where to have flowers done (thank you Lehane and mom), what the buttonhole pins cost (to pin the flowers to lapels) and that simple is often more effective than a big hoohaa. Thanks also to all the Wartons who wave pitched in with cleaning up without asking or having to be asked. You guys are the best! Oh, yes, the correct boning arrived two weeks after the last post, and I could use it in Hannah's dress after all. I don't know how much she could breathe, but she survived the day and now can relax on her honeymoon - breathe in all the air she can. She looked absolutely gorgeous - thanks to Enno and her magic

Finally :)

A good few years ago, my friend H went to visit her family in the states and her mom was generous enough to part with some of her stash. I blogged about the start of the quilt a while back (In february last year - go figure) and then the top wound up in the cupboard, since I was so busy sewing for other people Well, this year marked a new season, and I finally have finished it :) Doing the happy dance right now Thank you H and M.
