A good few years ago, my friend H went to visit her family in the states and her mom was generous enough to part with some of her stash. I blogged about the start of the quilt a while back (In february last year - go figure) and then the top wound up in the cupboard, since I was so busy sewing for other people Well, this year marked a new season, and I finally have finished it :) Doing the happy dance right now Thank you H and M. Thanks to my friend Mr H, I hear about airshows first-hand, and quite a while before the time. last year we went to one at Stellenbosch airfield, which was awesome. It is all privately sponsored, which means that the pilots fly in on their own money, do the show and fly back home without any sponsorship. This means that you get to see only the planes which are available. This year, a lto fo teh pilots were overseas, flying in the Red Bull events in China. Here is the lauch of the team - yes, with some South Africans This year, there was less of the aerobatics side and more of a display. However, what was truly, insanely amazing was glider aerobatics - that's right, no motor, jsut doing aerobatics on the speed, height and updrafts of the air. This is the world champion in action (obviously NOT present at our little display) A few of the planes that were at the airfield, not all of them in the show.    

Firstly, a little take-off of the last Dacota at Ysterplaat airfield. The last one just got a beautiful paint job and then crashed in the Drakensberg. Tragic, tragic accident. I do love the view from my flat :) I also did a bit of sewing (something non-white for a change) OK, technically this last one is cream, but it does not look like it in the picture. I also had a make-over  And just to prove what a difference that made, here is a picture of half-on half-off :)  I also had some adventures and met with friends, went to a wedding, Went to an old-fashioned drive in and started knitting on a table cloth, which, if you follow me on Instagram or facebook, was unpicked quite a bit last night due to a dropped stitch that was decreased a few times and thus unravelled down, down, down. I saved it, finally, but had to undo about a week's worth of work.  I am quite a bit further than in this picture, though.  ...

Never thought I did, but I do. A while back I posted about what I would do if I didn't have to work any longer , which almost is the same thing. So, on the list, I suppose in the number 1 position for a long, long time already is a flight in a fighter plane, complete with dog-fight manouvers :) Unfortunately most military planes do not have space for a passenger, apart form the fact that I am a civilian. But a girl can dream, right?  BUT an aerobatics flight will no nicely too. *sigh* I wish Number 2: a TobyMac concert LIVE (i.e. not on DVD :) ) Because.... I mean, jsut look at this Number 3: Buy a flat Number 4: Spend a year on sabbatical at a tailor on saville Row Number 5: Help with the costume patternmaking and sewing on a Marvel movie. Yes, yes, my avid readers, it has been a while. Last time, I was only allowed to post the one wedding - which, by the way should be entered into the bride of the year competition. BUT now I can post the other two weddings. Bride Number One got hitched on the 6th of December in Malawi and it looks like an awesome wedding, with dancing barefoot on a lawn. My type of wedding :) The second wedding took place just two weeks ago, on the first of Feb. Indian style with some "sokkie-sokkie langarm" thrown in on the side. Complete with a candy BAR - YUM! And the epic facepalm: I went up to Johannesburg for the wedding, having booked my ticket in November or so. Flying in on the 31 Jan and back on the 2 Feb - right?
